Do you live in Ward 5?

Unsure? Find out if you live in Ward 5

Meet Naeem

Hello, my name is Naeem Awan. I moved to Cambridge with my family in 2015 after living in Toronto for over 10 years, and have been a resident of Ward 5 since then. I am an active member of my community and enjoy volunteering with various non-profit organizations and charities for many worthwhile causes. One of  such is serving as the director with the city of Cambridge, Bernice Adams Bursary Award Committee. I am a strong believer in the idea that a community can only prosper if its leaders make effective decisions motivated by compassion, vision and a desire to see equal opportunities for all.

Affordable Housing

Affordable housing is crucial as it will keep people off the street and out of the vicious cycle of poverty. We require proper assistance to assist those who have been living on the streets get back into long-term housing.

Financial Accountibility
I believe the budget has to be prepared and discussed with the residents. This is important because planned expenditure  is included in the municipality’s capital budget will have an impact on the residents of the city.

I believe a sustainable city must be able to provide for its future generations financially and environmentally. This can only be achieved through a mutual understanding and a sense of accountability amongst all stakeholders.

Community Safety

Feeling safe in my community is very important to me. As the community grows so does the violence. As your city council representative, I will strive to ensure the growth and safety of our community.

We are coming door to door to meet with residents, businesses and community leaders.

Assist Small Business

I understand that small and medium-sized businesses face many obstacles on a regular basis. Using my business experience, I plan to provide more opportunities and resources for these businesses to flourish and prosper within our community.

Environment Protection

As your councilor, I will work to make every day count towards a prosperous and sustainable future for us and our future generations by protecting the environment. I believe the best way to achieve this is by making our city eco-friendly and creating green spaces.

As your councilor, I will make strategic investments for our streets, utilities and transit through calculated funding and government partnerships. I will also increase the number of busses to reduce the waiting time and encourage more transit ridership.

The city needs reliable infrastructure to connect supply chains and efficiently move goods and services. With an improved infrastructure we can reduce CO2 commissions and provide higher quality opportunities for employment, healthcare and education.
